Since 1934, thousands of public school employees and families in our region have turned to riverset, formerly known as Pittsburgh Teachers Credit Union, for reliable financial services. In 2009, riverset converted to a three-county community charter to expand its reach in the Pittsburgh region. Through it all, a firm commitment to member service has remained the hallmark of our business.
WHY CREDIT UNIONS?
A credit union is a cooperative association - a group of people who pool their individual savings together and, from that pool, take care of their own credit problems with modest or low interest rates. Members elect the board of directors and the supervisory committee.
Credit unions offer loans and dividend rates that are seldom offered by other lending institutions. They are tax exempt, unlike savings and loans and mutual banks. The tax exemption is maintained because credit unions have no capital stock. They are not-for-profit - organized and operated for mutual purposes.
